Geneviève Toupin annonce la sortie, le 25 août prochain, d'un premier album sous le nom de projet Willows, alter-ego et maintenant nom de scène. Willows est née du désir de sa créatrice de se rapprocher et d'assumer totalement ses racines Franco-Manitobaine, anglophones et son héritage Métis tout en gardant ce côté folk actuel qui la caractérise depuis le début de sa carrière.La naissance de Willows ne s'est pas fait sans une longue réflexion de la part de Geneviève Toupin qui a décidé de faire le saut avec ce troisième album, assurément son plus accompli mais aussi son plus personnel à date. Avec ses ambiances feutrées, ses mélodies inspirantes et inspirées et des textes parlant des chemins parcourus en quête de bonheur, ce premier album de Willows est un baume pour l'âme en ces temps incertains. Née au Manitoba, dans le petit village Saint Claude au sud-ouest de la province, Geneviève Toupin apporte depuis la sortie de son premier album en 2009, un vent de fraicheur musical qui a fait voyager ses chansons au Canada, aux États-Unis et en Europe, remportant plusieurs prix, dont le Western Canadian Music Award pour l’album francophone de l'année, le prix Edith Butler de la SPACQ et le prix Révélation du Festival Pully-Lavaux (Suisse). Établie à Montréal depuis 2003, c’est aussi une rassembleuse, qui initiait en 2010 une web-série, La tournée des cafés où elle invitait différents artistes à revisiter ses chansons avec elle dans des cafés socialement responsables de Montréal. (Nomination Meilleure série musicale ADISQ et diffusée sur TFO) Remarquée pour ses multiples collaborations (dont le spectacle Danse Lhasa Danse), elle lance en 2012 un premier album en Anglais The Ocean Pictures Project. Aussi bien en français qu’en anglais, Geneviève Toupin - alias - Willows, crée une œuvre authentique, ses chansons empreintes de liberté rappellent les grands espaces de son Manitoba natal et cette sublime voix en est une qui fera chavirer bien de cœurs
